THE HUB OF ALL DEALS

Steve Cuozzo’s article is wrong in a number of critical areas (“The Next PA Fiasco,” PostOpinion, Jan. 30).

Work on the Transportation Hub has, in fact, started – a year and half ago. Construction is progressing aggressively, just as it has on all the major elements of the site since the Port Authority took over major responsibility for rebuilding.

Cuozzo would know this if he’d taken the PA up on multiple offers to actually visit the WTC site before writing about it.

The PA and architect Santiago Calatrava have worked hand-in-hand to make significant progress in reducing the costs of the Hub to close to initial, pre-design elements, while protecting its signature elements.

Cuozzo’s assertion that the Hub’s Grand Hall is merely a “void” is also incorrect. Approximately 200,000 square feet of world-class retail will be located in the Hub, and it will be an important public space for downtown.
