PILLS FOUND IN YANK’S CRASH CAR

When former Yankees slugger Jim Leyritz was busted in a Florida drunk-driving crash that killed a woman, cops found two bottles of pills in his SUV that were prescribed to another man, according to newspaper reports.

The two prescription bottles contained 35 unidentified pills that belonged to a man named Todd Watson, according to the inventory of Leyritz’s car obtained by the Miami Herald.

“That’s a friend of his. I’m sure they were inadvertently left there,” said his lawyer, J. David Bogenschutz.

A Todd Watson who lives near Leyritz – and who pleaded guilty in 2005 for possession of a controlled substance without a prescription – said he and the slugger have a mutual friend.

But Watson, who owns a medical clinic, said he had never met Leyritz. “I called an attorney to look into this,” he said.

The ex-Bomber was arrested Dec. 28 after his Ford Expedition collided with a car driven by Fredia Ann Veitch in Fort Lauderdale.

Cops said his blood-alcohol level was twice the legal limit and he had run a light.

He’s been charged with manslaughter while driving under the influence.
