TORTUOUS

Mike Ramirez’s cartoon about waterboarding is absurdly simplistic (NYPost.com, Dec. 18).

Waterboarding is illegal, and has been for many years.

Why is it that people who have been tortured, have participated in torture or have observed torture are virtually all opposed to its use?

Because it doesn’t work, and it diminishes us as a nation.

Sen. John McCain, hardly a bleeding heart, strongly opposes waterboarding and all other forms of torture.

People being tortured will tell their torturers what they think the torturers want to hear.
