HAUTE LIST

HELLO again, Kitty: Everyone’s favorite feline turns 33 this month, celebrating the milestone with everything from partnerships with handbag designers to her very own Barbie.

We covet the cat. You will, too.

Lotta Lauder Love

“Estée’s whole philosophy was about luxurious, special things,” says Aerin Lauder (inset), senior vice president and creative director at Estée Lauder, who always refers to her grandmother by her first name. “Whenever I called her Grandma, she would tell me to call her Estée. And everyone else did. But I called my grandfather Grandpa Joe.”

Lauder says she spent hours secluded in the brand’s private archives, consisting of three huge offices on 54th and First. She combed through vintage packaging searching for exclusive products and inspiration to stock her new Private Collection Boutique, opening for the holidays at the Lauder counter on the Bergdorf Goodman beauty floor. “The whole collection and the whole idea is about giftables – things to buy for yourself and your friends,” she says.

Lauder says her favorite items are the alligator compact, the sea anemone collectible and the scented soap, which she says remind her most of her glamorous grandmother. “The oversized soap with the Youth Dew fragrance reminds me of everything about her,” she says. “She wore a lot of Youth Dew and a lot of Beautiful.”
