ICE SKATERS HIT PUDDLE MUDDLE

It was more like water-skiing than ice skating for diehard skaters who defied the record heat and laced up for opening day at Rockefeller Center’s ice rink yesterday.

As temperatures did a flying spin into a sun-splashed high of 86 degrees, dozens of skaters splashed through puddles of melted ice.

Elizabeth Reynolds, 39, of Queens, lapped the rink decked out in winter leggings and a long-sleeved top.

“I am dying,” she said. “When you are jumping, it’s just sweltering.”

Rink director Carol Olsen said, “In my 20-year history at the rink, it’s the warmest opening I’ve ever had.”
