Racing and simulcasting were canceled at Belmont Park yesterday because of torrential rains that flooded many area roads and required extensive maintenance of the racetrack. There also was minor flooding in Belmont’s clubhouse lobby and the jocks’ room.
The seven dirt races scheduled for yesterday will be re-drawn and run on tomorrow’s sunset card; the two canceled grass races will not be carded again.
Racing is expected to resume today with post time at 1 p.m.
