PILOT FLEW OFF HANDLE: COPS

A Delta Air Lines pilot has been arrested for assaulting a customs agent at JFK Airport, authorities said yesterday.

Edward Smyth, 54, got into an argument with a female customer-service representative after having piloted a flight from Montego Bay, Jamaica, on Saturday night, sources said. It was unclear what sparked the dispute, but the customs agent interceded. That’s when Smyth allegedly socked the agent, causing minor injuries.

Port Authority police arrested Smyth after a struggle, sources said. He was charged with assault and resisting arrest.

Authorities said neither alcohol nor drugs played a role.
