Fans worry over Angelina’s farewell to arms
Angelina Jolie may have Hollywood’s most luscious lips, but she’s got the most appalling arms, too.
The vein-y vixen sported such skinny limbs at yesterday’s Cannes Film Festival that most people were left wondering if the goddess is losing her goodies.
“Basically you’re dealing with a woman who is very thin and the vein – called the basilic vein – is apparent because of that,” says Dr. Michael Vitti, who practices at the Eastern Vascular Associates’ Vein Treatment Center in The Bronx. “Most women have some body fat that surrounds the vein and makes it less visible, but you can even see from her hand just how little fat she has.”
The basilic vein is usually visible in men’s forearms because of working out with weights, but it’s rare that women have that problem.
“It’s not abnormal, it’s just very uncommon,” he says.
Dr. Jeffrey Bronstein, who works at the Renfrew Center, specializing in eating disorders, says the problem is bigger than just veins.
“For one thing, it looks like she’s even struggling to keep her arms up. She looks that weak,” he says, adding, “it’s a sign of starvation or malnutrition.
“Her arms are the result of addictive behaviors such as laxative abuse, starvation and bulimia. It’s very dangerous.”

THE “Oceans” franchise has gone to Brad Pitt’s head. Instead of disheveled cowboy of his youth, Pitt showed up to the Cannes film festival looking very Old Hollywood. His Tom Ford tux had a throwback waistcoat and chunky bow tie. The shirt, meanwhile, looked like it was going to roll up like it did on Bugs Bunny. It could have been plucked straight out of Cary Grant’s closet.
And with his slicked-down, Dapper Dan hairstyle, Pitt has started to look more like Robert Redford (inset), the matinee idol of the previous generation. Which is just fine with us.
