AMY AND JOE’S TABLOID REALITY

THE ISSUE: The reunion of controversial Long Island couple Amy Fisher and Joey Buttafuoco.

Do these two despicable characters, Amy Fisher and Joey Buttafuoco, really deserve front-page status (“Oh, Lolita!” May 17)?

I just pray that Mary Jo Buttafuoco has installed a peephole in her front door.

“We’re Sick and Getting Sicker” should have been your headline for the Fisher-Buttafuoco reunion.

What’s worse is that some opportunistic TV producer feels the need to make money off this tragic and sick affair.

Is the producer planning to provide the weapon this time? What have we become as a society that we need to see this?

Fisher tried to turn her life around and has kids, while Buttafuoco has remarried and has been jailed.

Could we stop giving this story legs and let them get on with their lives?

Let me get this straight: A guy goes to jail for statutory rape after his underage girlfriend shoots his wife in the head, causing lifelong trauma, and now TV producers think we would watch the reunion and romantic dinners between the two?

I don’t know what is more sick and twisted – the reunion or the producers who think this would be good television.

These two boneheads deserve each other.

Maybe Buttafuoco has a brother whom we can hook up with Paris Hilton and all will be well in La-La Land.
