GOWANUS WHALE IS A GONER

Brooklyn’s whale sleeps with the fishes.

A day after getting lost in the polluted industrial waters of the Gowanus Canal, the wayward mammal – nicknamed Murky – died yesterday, after striking a rocky ridge and sinking.

“It sounds like it was very quick,” said Kim Durham, of the Riverhead Foundation for Marine Research and Preservation.

The Army Corps of Engineers is expected to use a crane to remove the carcass today.
