Yesterday, of all the team for which losses would have helped the Rangers’ playoff chances … each of them won. This means the Blueshirts will have to do it themselves. A win tomorrow against Boston is a must if the Rangers are to strengthen their hold on the 7th spot in the Wales.
Tonight, the hope is that Toronto will fall to the Sabres, if only to mitigate the congestion around the final playoff berth. Tomorrow’s best outcomes will be a Ranger win (obviously), and wins by Washington and Philly.
Still, the Rangers are in good position and need to defend it with wins. If they can continue the standard of play they’ve established in this run, there will be no disputing that they earned their potential spot in the playoffs.
