HURT RANGER TELLS DA: LET THUG SKATE

ATLANTA – Ryan Hollweg, the New York Ranger forward bashed in the face with a two-handed stick swing by the New York Islanders’ Chris Simon nine days ago, has told Nassau County prosecutors he does not want to press criminal charges.

“They asked me if I wanted to move forward with the prosecution and I told them I wanted it to be over with, just wanted to make the playoffs,” Hollweg said yesterday after a practice here at Phillips Arena.

Hollweg suffered temporary hearing loss and required stitches to his chin after the attack for which the National Hockey League suspended Simon for a record 25 games.

The DA’s charging decision is expected next week.
