SHARI TO MAKE HIGH-SOCIETY DEBUT

In line to take over the $54 billion Viacom empire, Shari Redstone will need to score a strong coming-out at her social debut this week among New York’s high society.

The 52-year-old daughter of Viacom founder Sumner Redstone is chairing the Winter Antiques Show, whose past chairs include Barry Diller, Henry Kissinger and Nancy Reagan, reports New York magazine.

Asked if she’s ready to become a full-fledged power player, Shari said: “I don’t know much about New York society, and didn’t know it was such a high-society event.”

What attracted her to the blueblood chore, she says, is that the event’s proceeds help bankroll the East Side House Settlement.

An attorney, she’s lived mostly outside of Boston with her three kids. But she’s spending more of her time now as president of National Amusements, the parent company of Viacom and CBS.

Asked what she would wear to the diamond-dripping affair, Shari said: “I don’t have a clue.”

She’s more impressed with the artifacts being sold at the gala event. Of particular interest to her is a rare typed letter from recently deceased President Gerald Ford defending his pardon of Richard Nixon, for sale at $25,000.
