‘NEWS’ FLASH: FOX IN ‘ACTION’

FOX has grabbed “Action News,” the highly anticipated sitcom pairing Kelsey Grammer and Patricia Heaton.

Fox has given the show a 13-episode commitment and plans to launch it in the fall, according to The Hollywood Reporter – which also noted that ABC, CBS and Fox all bid on the show despite its steep license fee.

“Action News” is set at a local TV station and revolves around the reunion of an anchor duo.

The show was created by Steve Levitan (“Just Shoot Me“) and “Frasier” producer Christopher Lloyd.

Grammer earned four Emmys for his work as a Seattle radio shrink on “Frasier.”

Heaton earned two Emmys for her role as harried wife and mother Debra Barone on CBS’ hit comedy “Everybody Loves Raymond.”

As The Post reported Jan. 24, “Action News” could be one of the most expensive sitcoms in history.

Grammer was earning $1.6 million-per-episode when “Frasier” went off the air, while Heaton was pulling down $500,000 each week.
