HIP-HOP COP GETS 10 YEARS

A rogue cop was sentenced to 10 years in prison yesterday for a scheme to stick up drug dealers.

Donald Medard, 30, formerly of the 104th Precinct in Maspeth, Queens, “was a criminal with a badge,” said Manhattan Assistant District Attorney Joshua Steinglass.

The father of two from Queens Village was a hanger-on in the rap scene – dubbed the “hip-hop cop” – and was busted with three civilian pals in Washington Heights last winter.

The four were in Medard’s parked Chevy Tahoe on West 181st Street, with three illegal guns between them.

They had planned to roll down the tinted windows and stick a gun in the face of a drug dealer who’d just promised to sell them $5,500 worth of pot, one of the sidekicks told jurors. Instead, someone called 911 – possibly one of the dealers.

Cops found Medard flashing his badge, insisting, “I’m on the job,” and appearing to reach for his gun.

“The defendant attempted to use his shield to thwart police action,” Steinglass said, calling the behavior “outrageous.”
