An off-duty Queens cop became a crime victim yesterday when a burglar broke into her home and assaulted her, police said.
Officials said the thief crept into her Cambria Heights home at about 2 a.m. through an open window and surprised the cop, an undercover officer whose identity is being withheld.
The cop and the crook grappled before the burglar fled.
“It was a burglary that was interrupted,” a police source said.
Cops said the officer suffered facial lacerations and was taken to North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset.
Cops had a suspect, but released him when the victim was unable to make a positive identification.
