PIRRO: ANDY NOT UP TO JOB

GOP state Attorney General hopeful Jeanine Pirro stepped back into the ring yesterday with a press conference in front of Democrat Andrew Cuomo’s headquarters challenging his qualifications for the job.

Pirro, the former Westchester District Attorney, pointed to Cuomo’s recent state ethics commission filing, where he described himself as an “attorney (non-practicing),” as proof.

“The Attorney General’s office is not the place for on-the-job training,” said Pirro, who’s polling behind Cuomo and his closest primary rival, Mark Green.

She thanked Cuomo for “truth in advertising,” but added, “This is a job for an experienced prosecutor.”

In response, Cuomo, the federal housing secretary under President Clinton, pointed to the number of lawyers and cases he oversaw at HUD and added that Pirro, too, is now a candidate, not a practicing attorney.
