DEVECCHIO DA RIPS ‘HARASS’ TACTIC

Former G-men are intimidating witnesses the Brooklyn DA’s Office plans to use against accused FBI mob mole Lindley DeVecchio, prosecutors said yesterday.

“These people are not playing fair,” said Assistant DA Michael Vecchione, later pointing to the third row of the gallery in the 19th-floor courtroom in Brooklyn Supreme Court where two exFBI agents were seated.

One of the men, Andris Kurins, is the co-author of “Boss of Bosses: The FBI and Paul Castellano,” an account of FBI surveillance of the one-time Gambino godfather before he was assassinated in 1985.

A source familiar with the investigation identified the witness in question as Larry Mazza, a convicted Colombofamily hit man.

The alleged witness intimidation was being investigated, a source said.

Vecchione said agents were also harassing a Californiabased writer who is a possible witness. That writer, Sandra Harmon, told The Post that Kurins has contacted her by telephone several times.

DeVecchio’s lawyer, Mark Bederow, flatly denied any witness intimidation.

Kurins and the unidentified former FBI agent with him at the hearing yesterday didn’t want to comment on the accusation directly.
