* A cabby waiting for his next fare in Murray Hill got a knife-wielding carjacker instead, police sources said yesterday.

The unidentified suspect brandished a large kitchen knife and approached the 2003 Crown Victoria at East 40th Street between First and Second avenues at about 5:05 p.m. Monday.

He then ordered the 54-year-old driver to “get out.” After the driver complied, the suspect hopped into the vehicle and sped away.

He is described as black, in his 30s, 6-foot-1 with a medium to large build and short hair. He was wearing a T-shirt and blue jeans.

* An argument over a woman led to a man’s stabbing outside a Washington Heights restaurant, police sources said yesterday.

The 26-year-old victim exchanged angry words with a man in his early 20s outside the eatery on West 168th Street and Amsterdam Avenue just past 5 a.m. Monday.

The assailant stabbed the victim in the back while chasing him toward Audubon Avenue, then fled. The wounded man was rushed to Harlem Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.

Brooklyn

* A teenager struggled with police in East Flatbush after pummeling a man in two separate incidents, authorities said yesterday.

The first incident occurred at about 11 p.m. Sunday, when the man heard a noise coming from a vacant apartment in the building where he lives on East 96th Street, sources said.

When he went to investigate, he encountered Kevin Edwards, 18, and the two got into an altercation over Edwards’ urinating and vomiting in the apartment, the sources said.

Edwards slugged the man about the face and body, bruising his lower lip, sources said.

The next day, Edwards allegedly threatened the man with a hammer and fled.

The victim called police and gave a description of his attacker. Cops arrested Edwards a short time later after a struggle.

* A man was shot dead and another was wounded during an argument on a Bedford-Stuyvesant street, police sources said yesterday.

The incident began at about 8 p.m. Monday, when Damon Lee, 39, argued with a 26-year-old man over a woman near Grand Avenue and Fulton Street, the sources said.

Lee then allegedly pulled a gun and shot the man.

A 25-year-old man, who was with the wounded victim, then brandished a firearm and fatally shot Lee, the sources said.

The wounded man was rushed to Kings County Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.

Staten Island

* A security guard helped police arrest a man who allegedly stole an American flag from a Navy ship during Fleet Week, authorities said yesterday.

Roman Skrynyk, 31, was taking a tour of the USS Shreveport – docked on Front Street in Stapleton- at about 7:30 p.m. Saturday when he swiped the flag from a cabin, sources said.

After Skrynyk left the ship, the security guard saw him carrying the flag under his arm and stopped him, the sources added.

Police were called and arrested Skrynyk, who was charged with criminal possession of stolen property and petit larceny, a spokesman for District Attorney Daniel Donovan said.

* A man named Beers had a few too many – and it landed him in jail, authorities said yesterday.

Edward Beers, 40, gunned his engine while stopped at a red light at Craig Avenue and Hylan Boulevard at about 3:15 a.m. Sunday, sources said. His tires began spinning, emitting clouds of smoke.

Police noticed the ruckus and confronted Beers, who had bloodshot eyes and slurred speech and reeked of booze, the sources said.

After allegedly failing a Breathalyzer test, Beers was arrested.

* An unlicensed driver and his passenger were arrested after police found a stolen motorcycle in their rented van at the Verrazano Bridge, authorities said yesterday.

Terrell Hill, 19, was behind the wheel of a 2006 Ford U-Haul van with Martinus Johnson, 24, in the passenger seat when they drove up to the cash lane of the bridge’s toll plaza at about 11 p.m. Saturday, sources said.

Police were called after Hill did not have enough money to pay the toll.

When cops asked him for his license, Hill could not provide one and gave a false name, the sources said.

After further investigation, police found a stolen 2005 Yamaha in the cargo area of the U-Haul.
