A Bronx toddler was in a coma early today after nearly drowning in a bathtub, police said.
The boy, between 1 and 2 years old, was discovered by his stepfather inside their apartment on East 170th Street in Morrisania at 8:30 p.m., cops said.
A 911 operator gave the dad instructions on how to revive him, but when paramedics arrived, the boy was still unconscious.
The child, whose name was withheld, was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital in critical condition.
A police source said it appeared to be accidental.
Residents said a leaky faucet may have filled the tub. Another police source said the boy is known to climb into it to play.
Neighbor Lynette Hamilton, 43, described the tot as “a quiet child you grow to love.”
