Remember when we used to dissect live frogs in biology class? Well, a California school has taken things to a whole new level.

An agriculture teacher at Rosamond HS in the Mojave Desert grossed out her class by castrating a live pig, sparking the ire of animal-rights activists. But Superintendent Rod Van Norman insists animal castrations are an important skill for students to learn.

“I don’t know why they’re picking on a little school district,” he said.

Uh, sorry, Rod. We’ll play hooky the day Porky’s gonna get ’em lopped off.

Australia’s new ad campaign to lure tourists starts with a guy looking into the camera and saying, “We’ve poured you a beer, and we’ve had the camels shampooed. We’ve saved you a spot on the beach, and we’ve got the sharks out of the pool.”

Then a bikini-clad cutie snorts, “So where the bloody hell are you?”

Meanwhile, the wildlife in Australia’s biggest city hasn’t exactly been playing along with the tourism spiel.

Police needed the help of a zookeeper to capture a crocodile yesterday after several people reported seeing the reptile in a suburban waterway.

The 2-foot saltwater croc was found munching on carp in a natural spring near an industrial park.

Saltwater crocodiles, which can grow to 23 feet, are normally found more than 1,500 miles north of Sydney.

A Bosnian dentist gave his 8-month-old Russian terrier a gold tooth as a reward for his loyalty – and says the pooch is grateful.

“He likes the fact that he has a gold tooth. He often shows it off because he knows it is something different and special,” said Milan Vujnovic.

He warns potential gold thieves: “He’s not a dog that would ever allow himself to get stolen.”
