NYPD BOOSTS REWARD FOR COP-SHOOT THUG TO 22G

The NYPD yesterday raised the reward to $22,000 for information in the hunt for a robber who confronted an off-duty cop and then shot him after stealing his department ID and jewelry.

The original $10,000 Crime Stoppers reward was supplemented by an additional $12,000 as investigators hunt for clues to finding the brazen mugger who shot Officer Wiener Philippe in front of his Crown Heights home at 6 a.m. last Saturday.

“We believe that there are people on the street who have information,” said Detective Thomas McKiernan of the 77th Precinct Detective Squad.

Cops have also released sketches of the jewelry that was stolen, to further help the search for leads.

The stolen items included a 34-inch white gold chain with a diamond-encrusted cross, a pair of white gold earrings flanked with diamonds, and a men’s “Ecko” brand watch with a crystal border.

“If somebody is suddenly wearing this unique and ornate jewelry, obviously it’s someone we want to talk to,” said McKiernan’s boss, Lt. David Stein.
