GUN SCARE AS COPS NAIL ‘FARE BEAT’

A furious struggle in the heart of Penn Station landed two undercover cops and a subway-fare beater in separate hospitals yesterday after the suspect lunged for one cop’s gun, police and witnesses said.

Soldiers patrolling the station helped subdue Norville Clark at about 1 p.m., shortly after he went “ballistic,” cops said, when he was told he was under arrest for walking through the IRT local’s gate.

LIRR worker David Dawson, 18, said, “The suspect tried taking the gun and using it on the officer. The suspect tried to rip the cops’ lips off.”

The two cops were treated at Bellevue Hospital for minor injuries.

Clark – taken to St. Vincent’s Hospital on a stretcher – insisted, “I asked for permission to walk through.”

Charges were pending.
