A Bronx father has been convicted of criminally negligent homicide for shaking his 5-month-old daughter to death.
Leslie Martin, 36, was convicted in a non-jury trial at Bronx Supreme Court in the death of his daughter, Brianna, at Jacobi Hospital in May 2003, four days after the father called 911 and said she had stopped breathing.
Doctors diagnosed Brianna with bleeding in the brain and eyes – classic signs of shaken-baby syndrome.
The girl’s mother, Rasida Bennett, testified that she had left the child in her father’s care.
