HYNES URGES DISGRACED POL: TELL ALL

Brooklyn Democratic leader Clarence Norman needs to tell all about the sale of judgeships if he wants to avoid a lengthy prison sentence, Brooklyn DA Charles Hynes said yesterday.

“This is a technique that is not entirely new,” Hynes said during an appearance at City Hall to promote the legalization of sports gambling. “The technique has been used by prosecutors for a long time. Clarence Norman Jr. as the county chair of the organization in Brooklyn for 15 years clearly knows the answer to the questions that have been asked for eons. Are judgeships for sale? He has an opportunity to cooperate with this investigation.”

Hynes said that was the only way Norman could avert a maximum sentence recommendation from his office of eight years. Hynes is also pursuing three other potentially more serious political corruption cases against Norman. “I think the date is set for Nov. 6,” he said. “We’ll try the next one and the next one. We’re pleased with the progress of the investigation.”
