Manhattan DA candidate Leslie Crocker Snyder charged yesterday that longtime incumbent Robert Morgenthau’s senior staff falls short on minority representation.
Citing statistics in the directory of the National Association for Legal Career Professionals, she said that, out of 117 supervisors, Morgenthau has only four blacks, six Latinos and two Asian-Americans.
“Bob Morgenthau and his supporters have recently attempted to nullify the claims that his office is out of touch with our times when it comes to placing people of color in policy-making positions,” Snyder said in a press release.
“These new numbers . . . do not lie.”
A Morgenthau spokesman has noted that only two of the 44 partners in the private law firm for which Snyder works are minorities.
