The owner of CBGB hopes a judge’s ruling yesterday that it doesn’t owe back rent and should be “recognized as a landmark” will get the club a new lease on life.
Judge Joan Kenney ruled CBGB lived up to its end of the bargain after it settled an older rent dispute with the Bowery Residents’ Committee, its landlord, and shouldn’t be held responsible for another $75,000 in rent hikes.
Muzzy Rosenblatt, BRC executive director, said he’s ready to talk with CBGB, but he’ll insist on getting the $75,000.
