Over the last few years, poker’s popularity has increased exponentially, largely due to ESPN incessantly replaying the World Series of Poker. So we have decided (or ESPN has for us) that cards are now a sport.
Rounders, released prior to the boom, definitely contributed to the growth of televised poker from niche market to mainstream.
An all-star cast – led by Matt Damon and Ed Norton, and with tremendous support from John Malkovich, among others – convey all the tension the screen can handle.
