GALS’ MAN-DATE – THEY LIKE GUYS WITH CHEST HAIR, T-SHIRTS, JEANS AND BOXER BRIEFS

Women have weighed in on what makes a man look sexy – and while jeans, a clean-shaven face and chest hair are hot, leather pants, comb-overs and sandals are not.

Cargo magazine quizzed 866 women on what they look for in a guy, and they had very strong opinions about the way men dress and groom themselves.

The jeans and T-shirt look is way in, with 58 percent saying it’s the sexiest outfit men can wear.

Another 19 percent say a hip shirt and pants are what turns them on, while another 17 percent insist a suit and tie is the bomb.

Leather pants? Ugh! Ninety-two percent say they’re best left to rock stars.

In the underwear department, boxer briefs ruled, with 48 percent of those surveyed digging them, while another 46 percent preferred boxers. Two percent say guys look best au naturel under their clothes.

On the subject of chest hair, 40 percent say a little trim couldn’t hurt, while 28 percent claim a man’s chest is meant to be hairy. Another 22 percent want their boy-toys hairless.

A man’s back hair is another story, with 55 percent saying it should be waxed, trimmed or plucked if it pokes out of the collar, and 35 percent insisting any back hair is too much.

Eyebrows should be looked after, too, with 63 percent of women wanting guys to keep them groomed.

Ditto the pubic region: 63 percent say a little trimming is “great,” although 22 percent complain enough with the primping, already.

Forty-two percent believe clean-shaven faces are best, although another 31 percent like it a little rough with a 5 o’clock shadow in place.

The survey reveals that guys who opt for facial hair should keep it neat, and they should steer clear of chin patches like home-makeover guru Ty Pennington’s because they resemble “a small animal trying to sprout right out of your chin.”

Cologne is OK, it’s just how you use it, and 77 percent of women say too many guys make the mistake of dousing themselves in the stuff.

“With cologne, a little goes a long way. Too much can be even more repellent than body odor,” one woman tells the mag.

One big no-no is sandals – 58 percent say men shouldn’t wear them because, as one woman said, “Too many guys have hobbit-looking feet: hairy with weird toenails.”

When it comes to beachwear, 56 percent of women say swim trunks look best, while another 36 percent like board shorts. No-nos include brief, bikini or thong suits.

Other big fashion flops include: wearing socks that are too short or pants that are too big, mixing and matching the wrong colors, and not trimming errant nose hair.

And shoes must be cared for, women say.

“You see a gorgeous outfit as you are giving the guy the once-over, and then you get to the shoes – old, ugly or scuffed,” one woman complained.

Looking too trendy is a turnoff, with 53 percent saying a man should appear “up-to-date, but not trying too hard.”
