CHANEL-ING GLAMOUR – STARS DAZZLE AT MET GALA

The fashion world’s “party of the year” arrived in haute style last night at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Expectations had been high for the Costume Institute’s benefit ball in honor of Chanel – and the celebrity-studded fete surpassed, them.

Vogue editor Anna Wintour, Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld and actress Nicole Kidman – the party’s co-chairs – led the red-carpet contingent.

Other luminaries included Claire Danes, Elle Macpherson and Naomi Watts, all wearing Calvin Klein. Sheryl Crow turned up in Ralph Lauren. High-heeled Jessica Simpson wobbled up the Met stairs in Michael Kors.

Yet even fashion’s smartest set suffered a few wardrobe malfunctions.

Supermodel Carolina Kurkova arrived with label-mates Viktor and Rolf, who dressed her in an elaborate skirt with a duvet-like covering that said “I love you” in red letters.

But the extravagant garment got caught in the Met’s front door. Kurkova had to be unraveled before she could enter.

Melania Trump, bending over to exit her limo, saw her strapless dress fall down on the job.

Fortunately, Donald stood nearby, providing an instant dressing screen as she corralled her cleavage.

The glittering, fashion-obsessed crowd paid $150,000 per table for the Costume Institute.
