THE Rat Pack rides again.
Sort of.
PBS has picked up a British special, called “The Rat Pack – Live from Las Vegas” based on a popular stage show in London, in which actors portray Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr. and Dean Martin.
The special is expected to air in August.
The show is also being released on DVD.
“This unique concert has taken the world by storm,” said Bruce Venezia, managing director of the DVD’s distributor, Image Entertainment.
The smash-hit musical has been playing to packed audiences in London’s West End for three years and broke the Strand Theatre’s all-time box-office record for the fastest-selling show in one day.
The show celebrates the talent of Sinatra, Davis and Martin and is based on an evening at the legendary Sands Night Club.
The big band sound is recreated by the 15-piece “Rat Pack Big Band” and a company of singers and dancers.
