THE BRONX

*** A man who shot and wounded a teenager eight months ago has been arrested, police said.

Maurice Johnson, 18, is one of the two men who fired upon Luis Colon, 19, in a confrontation last June 12 in front of 1701 Clay Ave., police said.

Johnson and the other man wounded Colon several times, police said.

Colon was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital in stable condition and later recovered, sources said.

Charges against Johnson were pending.

Police did not say if the other attacker has been arrested.

BROOKLYN

*** A man in his 50s was found dead in Brighton Beach of mysterious causes, police said yesterday.

The man, whose identity was not released pending notification of relatives, was discovered in the basement of 3062 Brighton 4th St. at about 10:45 p.m. Friday, police said.

Police sources said there were no immediate signs of foul play, but the medical examiner is expected to conduct an autopsy.

MANHATTAN

*** The body of a man was recovered from the East River yesterday, not far from the South Street Seaport, police said.

The unidentified victim was found floating at 2:10 p.m. off Catherine Street, police said.

It was unclear how long he had been in the water or if foul play was involved in his death.

*** Cops in Washington Heights yesterday busted a Long Island man for bank robbery.

Joseph Cepeda, who coincidentally lives on Bank Street in Valley Stream, was arrested at 5:30 p.m. Friday by members of the NYPD Major Case Squad at West 190th Street and Amsterdam Avenue.

Cepeda entered a Bank of America branch at 216-02 Merrick Blvd. in Springfield Gardens, Queens, on Jan. 19 and passed a demand note to a teller, escaping with an unspecified amount of cash, police said.

Cepeda was charged with robbery.

QUEENS

*** Detectives are probing the death of a 4-month-old boy who passed out in his Jamaica home and died a short time later at a hospital, police said.

The child was discovered unconscious at 11 a.m.. He was taken to Mary Immaculate Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

There was no indication the boy was the victim of a crime, but a final determination will not be made until an autopsy is completed.
