A coalition of movie studios has sued the operators of a Web site they claim sold pirated copies of popular films and TV shows, according to court papers made public yesterday.
Joseph Mori and Christopher Barnard, who allegedly operate the site, were named as defendants in the suit, filed in Manhattan federal court. Users of the site were asked for “donations” to download the films and shows, which could then be resold, the suit claims..
