IMMIGRANT FALLS TO DEATH AFTER FATALLY SLASHING GAL PAL

A Guyanese immigrant who slashed his girlfriend’s throat after an early-morning argument fell five stories to his death while trying to hang himself from a fire escape outside their Bronx apartment, cops said.

Police found Dhanraj Hamavshwar, 40, dead in a concrete courtyard beneath the couple’s fourth-floor walkup at 1592 Townsend Ave. in Morris Heights.

Hamavshwar’s girlfriend, 30, was found on the living room couch, her throat slashed and a knife sticking out of her arm. She was not immediately identified.

Police said that after killing her, Hamavshwar tried to hang himself from the fire escape with an electrical power cord which gave way.

They had no children, but Hamavshwar had two girls from an earlier relationship.

Police sources said the fatal argument began after Hamavshwar’s girlfriend threatened to leave him.

Blood could be seen splattered around the apartment, in the kitchen and an alcove, and the floorboards appeared to be soaked with blood.

Landlord Guna Persaud said the Guyanese couple had moved in a few months ago with Hamavshwar’s daughters.

“These are good people,” said Persaud. “I am shocked. Everybody is shocked.”
