A former FBI clerk who was fired for bilking illegal aliens out of tens of thousands of dollars in 1992 was hauled back into court yesterday for a nearly identical scheme.
Rosana Frederick, 57, is charged with posing both as an FBI agent and an immigration official in a ruse to squeeze more than $43,500 out of nearly a dozen illegal aliens who were seeking green cards.
Authorities arrested Frederick yesterday as she was about to board a flight to Trinidad, Assistant U.S. Attorney Margo Bro- die said at an arraignment in Brooklyn federal court.
In carrying out the scheme, which ran from January to September 2001, Frederick allegedly promised her victims she would use her clout as a federal agent to land them expedited appointments with the Immigration and Naturalization Service.
But 11 illegal aliens – who are now cooperating with investigators – claim they lost contact with Frederick soon after they forked over the cash she’d demanded, and never received their green cards.
