BOSTON – President Bush phoned Lance Armstrong yesterday to congratulate his fellow Texan on a record sixth Tour de France triumph.
“You’re awesome,” Bush told Armstrong.
Bush’s phone call thrust him back into the spotlight from his Texas vacation on this eve of the Democratic National Convention.
Bush plans to “reflect on the recommendations of the 9/11 commission” this week at his Texas ranch, where National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice will join him tomorrow.
