KELLY GETS ‘LIFE’

KELLY Osbourne says she was a real freak and geek in high school – making her the perfect fit for ABC’s new fall teen drama “Life As We Know It.”

The daughter of rocker Ozzy Osbourne and star of the family’s MTV reality TV hit is the most well-known young actor in the show, which will focus on the sexual coming-of-age of high school students.

Osbourne said high school – and moving from the British countryside to Beverly Hills – wasn’t the smoothest fit for her.

“In high school in L.A., I was fat,” Osbourne told reporters yesterday during ABC’s portion of the TV Critics press tour. “If you don’t have a flat stomach in today’s society, then you’re perceived as fat. And that’s how high school is.”

Show producers Gabe Sachs and Jeff Judah hope to have the same critical success they had with their acclaimed “Freaks and Geeks,” but this time with more viewers.

Despite such high praise, “Freaks” lasted 17 episodes in 1999. Their latest project concentrates on the exploits of three teenage boys and the girls of their affection.

Osbourne, a budding actress who shot to fame thanks to her family’s reality show, said she doesn’t even care much for that genre.

“I don’t like reality TV but I like our show,” she said. “It wasn’t like a competition – they [TV networks] took a good thing and took it too far.”
