SWEET 16 FOR ‘J’PARDY!’ CHAMP KEN

KEN Jennings continued his remarkable run on “Jeopardy!” last night – snaring his 16th consecutive victory.

Jennings, who began his streak June 1, has now amassed $512,959 in total winnings as he tries for #17 tonight (7 p.m./Ch. 7).

“He should start filling out his own work card and time card for appearances on this program!” show host Alex Trebek joked at the beginning of last night’s show.

As usual, Jennings overwhelmed his opponents – dominating the early rounds of play against veterinarian Cathy Weber and photographer Sarah Jane Woodall.

Woodall fumbled the “Final Jeopardy” question – “In 1826, Daniel Webster eulogized these two men, saying ‘They took their flight together to the world of spirits” – but Weber answered correctly (“Who are Jefferson and Adams?”)

However, Weber didn’t wager enough – and was soundly trumped by Jennings, whose take for last night’s game was $26,000.

Ratings for “Jeopardy!,” which always performs strongly, have remained relatively consistent here in New York since Jennings began his long march toward game-show history.

The show has averaged 656,000 households on Ch. 7 June 1 through June 22 – hitting a high of 814,000 households this past Monday night (Jennings’ 14th consecutive win) but dropping slightly to 747,000 households the next night.

National ratings data for the period covering Jennings’ “Jeopardy!” streak is not yet available.
