‘STABBER’ WAS OWN WORST ENEMY

A Brooklyn man was arrested after he stabbed a stranger in an unprovoked attack and left a trail of clues that led police to his home, law-enforcement sources said yesterday.

It was there that his mother gave him up, cops said. Walter Weisman, 33, was charged with assault and menacing for the 10:40 a.m. Wednesday stabbing of a man who at first didn’t realize he’d been stabbed.

Brian Hardy, 43, told The Post he felt a pain in his back as if somebody had punched him as he walked past the C-Town supermarket at 5th Avenue and 47th Street.

Confused, he said he turned and locked eyes with Weisman.

“His eyes were filled with rage,” Hardy said.

When police arrived, Hardy, who had a knife in his back, described his attacker and his blue sweatshirt, which police found on the steps to Weisman’s home.

Brooklyn Criminal Court Judge Miriam Cyrulnik ordered Weisman held without bail and evaulated for mental competence.
