‘BEAUTY’ AND THE FILM FEST

‘STAGE Beauty,” starring Billy Crudup as an actor specializing in female roles in 1660s London, will be the closing-night attraction at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival on May 8.

Claire Danes co-stars as an actress who displaces Crudup’s character in popularity after King Charles II, played by Rupert Everett, overturns England’s ban on female actors and prohibits men from playing female roles.

“Stage Beauty” was produced by Robert DeNiro and Jane Rosenthal, who founded the Tribeca festival to help downtown Manhattan businesses recover from 9/11.
