TERROR SHEIK’S SON OFF LIMITS: FEDS

Attorneys in the terror-conspiracy case of lawyer Lynne Stewart said yesterday they want to interview the son of blind sheik Omar Abdel Rahman as a possible trial witness – but federal prosecutors opposed the move for national-security reasons.

At a hearing in Manhattan federal court yesterday, assistant federal prosecutor Robin Baker asked judge John Koeltl to deny the request made by Barry Fallick, lawyer for Stewart’s co-defendant Ahmed Abdel Sattar.

Baker said that out of “national security” concerns, authorities cannot “confirm or deny” if the son is in U.S. custody.
