BERGTRAUM KOS CTK

GLENS FALLS – Bergtraum coach Ed Grezinsky has used Christ the King’s reputation as the best girls team in the state to motivate his squad.

“I’ve gotten them to hate,” Bergtraum’s coach Grezinsky said. “I get the players to believe that Christ the King is the elite team to make them play like tigers.”

He may need to find a new motivational tactic. The Blazers ended CTK’s season for the fourth straight year yesterday with a 65-60 victory in the girls A state Federation semifinals. Bergtraum will look to win the title again today when it meets Greece (Arcadia).

“Now we’re the national champs,” said Epiphany Prince, who carried the Blazers with a career-high 38 points in the matchup of arguably the best two teams in the nation. “It was good to take that away from them.”

They did it in stunning fashion. CTK built a 52-43 lead with less than five minutes left in the fourth quarter before Bergtraum erupted with a 10-0 run in 22 seconds. Prince gave Bergtraum the lead for good with a turnaround jumper with 3:21 to go.
