CALVIN KLEIN TO LAUNCH NEW LINE

Calvin Klein has reached an agreement with G.A.V. Partners to produce a new line of women’s clothes, priced just below the designer colletion.

As previously reported in The Post, the new line will be sold under the ck Calvin Klein label and is expected to arrive in department stores in the spring of 2005.

The deal is the latest in a series of licensing agreements that have been signed by Calvin Klein’s new owner, Phillips-Van Heusen, in an attempt to increase sales and profitability at the company.

Last year, PVH jointly awarded a license for a better-priced women’s sportswear line to Kellwood and G.A.V. – a company founded by garment executives Andrew Grossman, Alexander Vreeland and Jay Schottenstein.

“We have had a very successful partnership with G.A.V. launching our new Calvin Klein women’s better line, which we believe will exceed our volume expectations for the first year,” Tom Murry, president and chief operating officer at Calvin Klein, said in a statement.
