BYRON PINING TO REST KIDD

NET NOTES

It has been a standard mission for Byron Scott and the Nets: Find more rest for Jason Kidd. So far, it’s been tough.

Kidd has played 40, 42 and 40 minutes. Scott admits Kidd can no way play 40 minutes nightly, and that if the All-Star point tires, so goes the team.

Third quarters, especially, have been tough. The Nets have been outscored 77-61 in the third quarters, each time seeing a double-digit lead erased.

“Probably a little bit of it is being tired because we’ve got so many guys who are out,” Scott said. “Fatigue might be a factor.”

* Kenyon Martin (ankle) and Rodney Rogers (thumb) will be re-evaluated today. Martin is almost certainly out tomorrow.

Scott earned his 129th head coaching victory, tying him with Kevin Loughery as the winningest Nets’ NBA coach. But Loughery’s overall Nets total is 297. He won 168 in three seasons (55, 58, 55) with the Nets in the ABA.
