ONE-MAN BANK-ROB SPREE ON L.I.

A pattern bank robber is on the loose on Long Island, Nassau cops said.

Cops believe the same man has hit six banks in the county since July. And police said it appears he is “speeding it up,” with three robberies occurring in the past three weeks.

Detective Sgt. Gary Schriffen said the first five robberies were at Fleet Banks on Long Island. The sixth, on Thursday, was at the HSBC on Middle Neck Road in Great Neck.

Police said in each case the man waits in line for a teller, and then produces a handwritten note in black marker that reads: “This is a robbery. Give me the money. I have a gun.”

“To date, he has not produced a weapon,” said Schriffen.

Schriffen declined to disclose the amount of money taken, but said officers have recovered latex gloves and two pairs of coveralls they believe the man wore during two of the robberies.

Police described the man as a white male, 5-foot-10, in his mid-20s, wearing a baseball cap and sunglasses with silver frames.
