FLAG DAY FOR LADY LIBERTY

The Statue of Liberty stood proudly yesterday as hundreds of specially designed flags were draped around Liberty Island in an emotional tribute to the victims of the Sept. 11 terror attacks.

More than 600 volunteers, including 10-year-old Frank Sutcliffe (below) of Brooklyn, unfurled the flags, which were created by Chinese performance artist Pop Zhao.

The tribute, called “Celebrate: Life, Liberty and Beauty,” had many of the friends and families of victims who attended near tears.

It was one of many events marking this week’s second anniversary of the attacks.
