GERALDO HITS THE ROAD

Geraldo Rivera is officially on his way out of Iraq.

After a 24-hour standoff with the Pentagon, Fox News Channel’s maverick reporter volunteered to head to Kuwait in a move that shattered his vow to “march into Baghdad” with the 101st Airborne division.

The trouble with Rivera started Monday morning, when a U.S. field commander ordered that the reporter leave the battle space after he was seen during a live Fox News Channel telecast drawing a map in the sand that revealed U.S. troop positions.

“Fox News and Geraldo thought it better that he return to Kuwait while the situation is reviewed. Fox News believes that Geraldo did not knowingly disregard the rules of embedment,” Fox News officials said in a statement

Fox News Channel is a division of News Corp., which also owns The Post.
