HIGHWAY COP HURT IN LIE CRASH

A Nassau County police officer was seriously hurt yesterday morning when a tractor-trailer jackknifed on the icy Long Island Expressway and slammed into his patrol car.

Darwyn Byer, 43, was investigating another accident on the LIE’s eastbound lanes near exit 41 in Jericho around 6 a.m.

He was taken to Nassau University Medical center where he was listed in serious but stable condition. He is expected to survive, cops said.
