SCHWARZ JURORS BEG FOR BREAK

Exhausted jurors deliberating in the retrial of ex-cop Charles Schwarz asked a Brooklyn federal judge to send them home early after they failed to reach a verdict in their second day.

“We are all tired at this point. Fatigue is causing us to reason in circles,” the foreman of the anonymous jury wrote in a note to Judge Reena Raggi yesterday, asking the court to let them leave a half-hour early so they could “start fresh” in the morning.

Raggi complied with the request, despite her initial reluctance to let the jurors go before 5 p.m.

The ex-cop is being retried on charges he held Abner Louima while former officer Justin Volpe sodomized him with a stick in the bathroom of the 70th Precinct stationhouse on Aug. 9, 1997.
