“Sex and the City” siren Cynthia Nixon boasted of her New York City public education yesterday after a judge dropped charges against her for protesting school budget cuts.
“I was born here and I’m a New York City public school graduate,” said a smiling Nixon as she left the criminal summons court on Broadway.
The mother of a kindergartner in Manhattan, Nixon was one of 11 parents arrested at City Hall last month while protesting Mayor Bloomberg’s proposed school budget cuts.
A tentative agreement was reached restoring a major portion of those cuts.
But Nixon plans on keeping up the protests to demand more dollars for city schools, and has enlisted the celeb power of hip-hop impresario Russell Simmons.
“We had our voices heard and we’ll be back. But we have a long fight ahead or us,” Nixon said.
